CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations )

CISCE – Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations is a national level private board of Education in India, which was established in the year 1958 with an aim to serve the nation’s children by providing high-quality education, stimulating learning prospects with an assurance of excellence.The CISCE was launched to replace the Cambridge school certification examination.

The CISCE board provides a comprehensive, structured syllabus and aims to give practical knowledge and build analytical skills in students. The syllabus is specially designed according to the essential requirements of working professionals in order to improve their skills and capability according to the current job-oriented demands.


Every year the CISCE board of School education system conducts two main examinations, for Class 10 and Class 12, namely:

  1. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE – Class 10)
  2. The Indian School Certificate (ISC – Class 11 and 12)

The ICSE examination is a course of general education in the medium of English, as per the New Education Policy 1986 recommendation. However, private candidates are not permitted to appear for this examination. Meanwhile,the ISC examination, conducted in English medium normally happens after 2 year studies beyond the ICSE or any other equivalent of kerala sslc exam.

CISCE Exam Pattern

ICSE- Class 10 exams are divided into three groups. Where Group 1 has a list of compulsory subject that class 10 students should do. From Group 2, students had a choice between any of the 2 subjects offered and for Group 3, students had a choice of one subject.  Now, as per the exam pattern for class 10, for both Group 1 and 2 subjects, the marks percentage distribution is 80% from external and 20% from the internal exams. Whereas, for Group 3 subjects, the mark percentage distribution is 50% each from external and internal exams.

Now, to pass the exams the cut-off marks are as given here:

For ICSE, students have to get 33% and for ISC students the cut-off is at 35%.  

CISCE Board Date Sheet

Students of class X and class XII studying under the CISCE Board would be eagerly looking for the CISCE board date sheet if they have not already done so, as it gives detailed time-table and instructions about the upcoming board exams. Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations have already published the ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 exam date sheets. As per the time-table provided by ICSE board, class 10 exams will start from February 22 and will end on March 25, 2019. At the same time, for class 12, exam dates are from Feb 4 to March 25 2019.

CISCE Board Syllabus

CISCE Board Result

Once the exams are over, it’s time for CISCE board results. All CISCE Board class 10 and class 12 students are eagerly waiting for the results to be out, as it’s their performance in the boards that will determine their career path and course of higher studies, ahead. Normally, the results are released in the month of April- May, giving Class 12 students ample time to apply for professional courses, as per their preference.
