Commonly referred to as sponges, Poriferans are characterized by the presence of a feeding system that is distinctive amongst animals. They are the least complicated, simplest form of animal entities on the planet. These entities have no mouth but have tiny, minuscule pores on their exterior walls from where water is taken in. Cells in the sponge walls drain out water as water is being pumped throughout the body and out from the other larger openings. Water flow in the sponges is unidirectional. There are three body types that sponges have, they are – leuconoid, asconoid and syconoid.
