The locomotor system, also known as the musculoskeletal system, is a human body component that gives us movement, steadiness, form, and support. It is classified into the muscular system and the skeletal system.
Our connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, and cartilage, are part of our musculoskeletal system. The skeleton supports the muscles and various soft tissues. Together, they help us move and support the weight of the body.
The musculoskeletal system serves various functions, in addition to its primary role in giving the body stability and mobility. While the muscular system retains most of the carbohydrates in the form of glycogen, the skeletal system also plays a significant role in other homeostatic processes, such as mineral storage and hematopoiesis.
